They believe, however, in the importance of being made aware through clear communication. Araştırmalara göre, tüketiciler böceklerin balık yemi olarak kullanılmasını kuvvetle desteklediklerini çün- kü bunu “doğal” ve “sürdürülebilir” olarak gördüklerini, somon gibi birçok türün doğada bunlarla bes- lediklerini belirtiyor. Diğer taraftan, net bir iletişimle bu konuda bilgilendirilmenin önemine inanıyorlar. Yüksek kaliteli proteinde artan bir küresel eksiklikle (2030 yılında 60 milyon ton) birlikte protein üretimi gele- cek on yıllarda en önemli sorunlardan biri hâline gelecek- tir. Bugün özellikle bitkisel protein ihtiyacının yüzde 80’ini (çoğunlukla soya fasulyesi küspesi) ithal eden Avrupa için durum risklidir. Düşük değerli biyokütlenin yüksek kaliteli hayvansal proteinlere dönüştürülebilmeleri ve bunları be- sin zincirine sokma kabiliyetlerinden ötürü böcekler, bu gıda sorunu ile mücadelede mükemmel bir çözüm yolu olarak ortaya çıkmaktadır. Su ürünleri yetiştiriciliğinde böcek proteini kullanımına izin veren yeni Avrupa yönet- meliklerinin bu yıl uygulanması ile 2018, böcek üretim en- düstrisinin gelişimi için bir dönüm noktası olmuştur. Insects, thanks to their ability to convert low-value biomass into high quality animal proteins and reintroduce them in the food chain, is emerging as an excellent solution to ad- dress this nutritional challenge. 2018 is a turning point for the development of the insect production industry with the implementation of the new European regulations al- lowing the use of insect protein in aquaculture.
