And ration refers to the whole amount of feed taken by the animal during a full day. Balanced ration means that the animals meet all their needs with the feeds they consume during the day. When economic and sustainable animal production is targeted and feed costs are taken into consideration, ration formula- tion has an important role. The feed formulation is a process of determining the amount of feed ingre- dients to be mixed to form a product that meets all the nutrient requirements for the target animal group. Products obtained from farm animals that can receive sufficient amounts of nutrients and have a balanced diet are relatively more qualified and in high amounts. In the fields such as meat, milk and egg production, the costs of feed and feed- ing within the operating costs also vary considerably. Today, the feed industry has a wide range of options for feed for- mulation. Ekonomik ve sürdürü- lebilir hayvansal üretim hedeflendiğinde ve yem maliyetleri dikkate alındığında rasyon formülasyonu önemli rol oynayacak bir paya sahiptir. Yem formülasyonu, hedef hayvan grubu için gerekli tüm besin maddesi ihtiyaçlarını karşılayan bir ürün oluşturmak üzere, ka- rıştırılması gereken yem hammaddelerinin miktarlarının belirlenmesi işlemidir. Yeterli miktarda besin alabilen ve dengeli bir diyet uygulanan çiftlik hayvanlarından elde edi- len ürünler görece daha nitelikli ve yüksek miktarlarda olmaktadır. Et, süt ve yumur- ta üretimi gibi faaliyet alanlarında işletme masrafları içinde yem ve yemleme masraf- ları da büyük ölçüde değişmektedir. Günü- müzde yem endüstrisi, yem formülasyonu için geniş seçeneklere sahiptir. Hem nitelikli hem de daha düşük maliyetli üretim gerçekleştirmenin önemli yollarından biri de yemleme ve yem için yapılan masrafın minimum düzeye indirilmesidir. Bu sebeple yem sektöründe doğru şekilde rasyon hazırlamanın tesislerdeki önemi büyüktür.
