In this decade; agriculture, livestock, and the feed sector that serve as a bridge between the two will face crises, opportunities and innovations both parallel to the world economy and unique and specific to itself. Feed Planet, feed industry specialty mag- azine, will continue to finger on the pulse of the sector in this period, too. You will be able to read the latest developments concerning the feed industry from this information source. As Feed Planet, we have decided to enter this period with some novelties. In this new publication season, in each is- sue, there will be a country focus with a general and sec- toral assessment of a country significant for all stakeholders of the sector. In addition, an agricultural product that con- cerns the feed industry directly as it is used in compound feed production will be examined in detail. For example, the country focus of this issue is Egypt, the North African coun- try which is a huge market with a population of 100 million. The product analysis file will be on soybean, which is an important protein source and is often named 'the miracle plant' due to its profitability and use in numerous sectors. These studies will not consist of official statistics which can be easily accessed by anyone but will also include com- petent market analyzers' comments and future evaluations. To fulfill this quite important and difficult mission, we are en- tering a very assertive period to assign these studies to the right names. You will read the Egypt file from Mahmoud Ri- yad, General Secretary of the Egyptian Milling Association, and the soybean file from Agricultural Engineer Süleyman Hartavioğlu, General Manager of OSC Agro. Tarım, hayvancılık ve bu ikisi arasında köprü görevi gören yem sektörü; bu on yıllık dönemde gerek dünya ekonomisiyle paralel, gerekse kendine has krizler, fırsatlar ve yeniliklerle yüzleşecek. Yem sektörü ihtisas dergisi Feed Planet, bu dönemde de sektörün nabzını tutmaya devam edecek. Dünyanın birçok bölgesindeki okuyucularımız ve takip- çilerimiz yem sektörüyle ilgili gelişmeleri bu bilgi kaynağından takip edecek ve son gelişmelerden haberdar olacak. Feed Planet olarak bu döneme bazı yeniliklerle girme ka- rarı aldık. Artık her sayıda sektör için önemi herkesçe kabul edilen bir ülkenin genel ve sektörel değerlendirmesini içeren bir ülke dosyası yer alacak. Ayrıca karma yem üretiminde kullanılması vesilesiyle yem sektörünü birinci elden ilgilendi- ren bir tarım ürünü de ayrıntılı bir şekilde incelenecek. Örne- ğin, bu sayının ülke dosyası 100 milyonluk nüfusuyla dev bir pazar olan Kuzey Afrika ülkesi Mısır’ı; ürün analizi dosyası ise verimliliği ve sayısız sektörde kullanılması nedeniyle ‘mu- cize bitki’ olarak adlandırılan önemli protein kaynağı soyayı konu ediniyor. Bu çalışmalar sektörü yakından takip eden herkesin ko- laylıkla ulaşabileceği resmi istatistiklerden ibaret olmayıp, tecrübeli uzmanların yorumlarını ve geleceğe dönük değer- lendirmelerini de içerecek. Oldukça önemli ve bir o kadar da zor olan bu misyonu yerine getirebilmek için bu çalışmaları doğru isimlerden talep etmek konusunda oldukça iddialı bir döneme giriyoruz.
