Orta ölçekli süt çiftlikleri, gittikçe daha fazla yük- sek verimli siyah alaca sığırlarına (Holstein cattle) dayanıyor." Pazar uzmanları, Mısır su ürünleri yetiştiriciliğinin de oldukça hızlı bir gelişmeye şahit olduğunu söylüyor. Keskin bir şekilde artarak 1,5 mt’a ulaşan üretim şimdilerde Mısır'ın çiftlik üretimi ve vahşi avlanmanın toplamından balık üretiminin % 80'ini teşkil ediyor. "Mısır bugün onuncu en büyük çiftlik balığı üreticisi ve dünyanın en büyük ikinci tatlı su çipurası üreticisi konumunda." 2020 yılında balık üretiminin 2 mt’a ulaşması beklenirken, sektörün gelecekteki sürdürülebilirliğini korumak için üretim verimliliğinin ve kârlılığın art- masına ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Yüksek kaliteli ekstrüde yem talebini karşılamak amacıyla yem fabrikalarına yapılan yatırımlar artırılıyor. DAIRY, AQUACULTURE SECTOR: The USDA country review also found that the dairy industry in Egypt is experiencing a growth rate of 2-2.5%per annum. "The sec- tor is rapidly industrializing, driven by increased demand for fresh, re- frigerated dairy products. Middle-sized dairy farms are now increas- ingly relying on higher- yielding Holstein cattle." Egyptian aquaculture is also witnessing spectacular, rapid de- velopment, said the market specialists. Production is reaching 1.5 MMT, and is up sharply; it now accounts for 80%of Egypt's total fish production, both farmed and wild catch. "Egypt is today the tenth largest producer of farmed fish, as well as the world's second largest producer of tilapia." With fish produc- tion expected to grow to reach 2 million tons in 2020, there is a need to support increased production efficiency and profitability to maintain the sector’s sustainability into the future.
