Russia’s main sorghum production area is Saratov, followed by Volvograd, Rostov, Orenburg, and Stavropol. Sorghum areas planted in these regions vary between 5000 and 30 000 hectares. Some islands of sorghum production are also found in regions such as Samara, Belgorod, Voronezh, Krasnodar, and the Re- public of Kalmykia – but they do not exceed 500-2500 hectares. “As to yields, they vary a lot from one region to anoth- er and from one year to the next”, Artem Gorelov says. Over the past five years, grain sorghum ranged between 10,6 and 14,9 dt/hectare, with differences going from 2 to 40 dt/hectare, depending on the region. The result: the country’s production, too, has been highly fluctuat- ing: 104 000 tons in 2017, 49 000 tons in 2018, and 97 000 tons in 2019. FIRST, THE DOMESTIC MARKET AND THE LIVESTOCK INDUSTRY Russia’s grain sorghum production is mostly used on the domestic market. Only 10 to 30 percent of the amount produced is exported to Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East every year. İÇ PAZAR VE HAYVAN YEMİNE ÖNCELİK VERİLMEKTEDİR Rusya’da üretilen tane sorgum büyük ölçüde iç pazarda tüketilmektedir. Her yıl Avrupa, Orta Asya ve Orta Doğu’ya üretimin yalnızca %10 ila 30’u ihraç edilmektedir.
