53 COVER STORY • KAPAK DOSYASI FEED PLANET / SEPTEMBER 2022 • EYLÜL 2022 In response to the European Commission Farm to Fork Strategy⁴ Communication in May 2020, FE- FAC, the European Feed Manu- facturers Federation published the Feed Sustainability Charter 2030⁵ outlining five core am- bitions for the feed industry in Europe, including concrete ac- tions and commitments by FE- FAC members at national level to assist their respective mem- bers in reaching higher levels of sustainability in accordance with the ambitions in the Charter. Within the Charter they acknowledge the dif- ferences in sustainable objectives defining feed sus- tainability as a path for continuous improvement and measuring meaningful progress, not forcing everyone to meet the same thresholds. The five ambitions are also linked to the relevant EU Green Deal objectives and the UN SDGs, thus showing how they contribute to overall global sustainability. Asia, and in particular SE Asian countries, are large importers of animal feed ingredients, parti- cularly protein. These countries typically produce crops for human consumption such as rice, and therefore the responsible sourcing of animal feed ingredients such as corn and soy is a key priority, Avrupa Yem Üreticileri Federasyonu (FEFAC), Mayıs 2020'de Avrupa Komisyonu Tarladan Sofraya Strateji⁴ Tebliğine cevap olarak, FEFAC üyelerinin Sözleşmede yer alan hedeflere uygun olarak, kendi üyelerine daha yüksek sürdürü- lebilirlik seviyelerine ulaşmala- rında yardımcı olmak için ulusal düzeydeki somut eylemler ve taahhütler de dâhil olmak üzere, Avrupa'daki yem endüstrisi için beş temel hedefi özetleyen 2030 Yem Sürdürülebilirlik Sözleşmesi⁵'ni yayınladı. Sözleşme dâhilinde, yemin sürdürülebilirliğini, her- kesi aynı eşikleri karşılamaya zorlamadan, sürekli iyileştirme ve anlamlı ilerlemeyi ölçme yolu olarak ta- nımlayan sürdürülebilir hedeflerdeki farklılıkları kabul etmektedirler. Beş hedef aynı zamanda ilgili AB Yeşil Mutabakat hedefleri ve BM SKH'leri ile de bağlantılıdır ve böylece genel küresel sürdürülebilirliğe nasıl katkı- da bulunduklarını gösterir.
