editör editor The 14th edition of TUYEM, which brings together all stakeholders of the Turkish feed industry under one roof, took place in Cyprus on April 27-30. Within the scope of the program, many sector stakeholders including grain traders, feed and additive producers, academicians and members of the press discussed the present and future of the feed sector for three days. The Turkish Feed Industrialists’ Association (TÜRKİYEM- BİR), which represents 85 percent of the Turkish compound feed sector on a production basis, made a lively return to the congress and exhibition tradition, which was interrupt- ed due to the pandemic. The fourteenth International Feed Congress and Feed Exhibition (TUYEM), which is tradition- ally held every two years but has been interrupted since 2018, was held in Cyprus. The organization took place on April 27-30 and brought together over a thousand feed industry stakeholders from Turkey and around the world. Many people, including industry veterans, grain traders, feed producers, additive manufacturers, academicians and the press, discussed the problems of the feed sector for three days. In the exhibition, which was held simultaneous- ly with the presentations within the scope of the congress, many companies, especially feed technologies, feed ad- ditives and packaging companies, had the opportunity to host their visitors at their stands. It was noteworthy that only feed industry specialty magazine Feed Planet was present in the press area of the congress and exhibition, the most important platform of the Turkish feed industry. Ülkü Karakuş, President of TÜRKİYEMBİR, took the floor from time to time during the presentations at TUYEM, where the stakeholders of the feed sector came together after a five-year hiatus, and commented on the inflation- related increase in feed prices and consequently in the prices of animal products. He underlined that the resourc- es distributed by the Ministry of Agriculture should serve two purposes: either to increase production or to reduce prices. Karakuş argued that these two goals are far away for the time being and said that grants and loans should be distributed more carefully. Stating that the recently enacted 130% customs tax on grain products will have a direct impact on feed prices, President Karakuş said that they are in favor of re-evaluation of the decision after the upcoming presidential election Türk yem sektörünün bütün paydaşlarını tek çatı altında buluşturan TUYEM’in 14’üncüsü 27-30 Nisan tarihleri arasında Kıbrıs’ta gerçekleşti. Program kapsamında tahıl tüccarları, yem ve katkı maddesi üreticileri, akademisyen- ler ve basın mensupları olmak üzere çok sayıda sektör paydaşı üç gün boyunca yem sektörünün bugününü ve yarınını konuştu. Türk karma yem sektörünün üretim bazında yüzde 85’ini temsil eden Türkiye Yem Sanayicileri Birliği (TÜRKİYEM- BİR), pandemi sebebiyle kesintiye uğrayan kongre ve sergi geleneğine canlı bir geri dönüş yaptı. Geleneksel olarak iki yılda bir düzenlenen, ancak 2018 yılından bu yana sekteye uğrayan Uluslararası Yem Kongresi ve Yem Sergisi’nin (TUYEM) on dördüncüsü Kıbrıs’ta düzenlendi. 27-30 Nisan tarihleri arasında gerçekleşen organizasyon, Türkiye’den ve tüm dünyadan binin üzerindeki yem sektörü paydaşını bir araya getirdi. Aralarında sektör duayenleri, tahıl tüccar- ları, yem üreticileri, katkı maddesi üreticileri, akademisyen- ler ve basın mensupları olmak üzere çok sayıda kişi üç gün boyunca yem sektörünün sorunlarını konuştu. Kongre kapsamındaki sunumlarla eş zamanlı olarak gerçekleşen sergide ise yem teknolojileri, yem katkı maddeleri ve ambalaj şirketleri başta olmak üzere çok sayıda firma, ziyaretçilerini stantlarında ağırlama imkânı buldu. Türk yem sektörünün en önemli mecrası konumundaki kongre ve sergide, basın alanında sadece yem sektörü ihtisas dergisi Feed Planet’in yer alması dikkat çekti. Beş yıl aradan sonra yem sektörünün paydaşlarının yoğun bir katılımlar bir araya geldiği TUYEM kapsa- mındaki sunumlar esnasında zaman zaman söz alan TÜRKİYEMBİR Başkanı Ülkü Karakuş, yem fiyatlarında ve bunun sonunca hayvansal ürünlerin fiyatlarında enflas- yona bağlı artışla konusunda yorumlarda bulundu. Tarım Bakanlığı tarafından dağıtılan kaynakların üretimi artır- mak veya fiyatları düşürmek şeklinde iki amaca hizmet etmesi gerektiğinin altını çizdi. Bu iki hedeften şimdilik uzak olunduğunu savunan Karakuş, hibe ve kredilerin daha dikkatli bir şekilde verilmesi gerektiğini söyledi. Yakın zamanda yasalaşan tahıl ürünlerinde %130’luk gümrük vergisi konusunun yem fiyatlarına doğrudan etki edeceğini ifade eden Başkan Karakuş, yaklaşan Cumhurbaşkanlığı seçiminin ardından kararın yeniden değerlendirilmesinden yana olduklarını ifade etti.
