Sertifika- lı tohum üretimimiz son 10 yılda yüzde 100 arttı. Fidan üretimimiz son 10 yılda yüzde 300 arttı. Süs bitkisi üretimimiz son 10 yılda yüz- de 75 arttı. Bizler bunları hep birlikte başardık. Dış ticaret rakamlarımız 10 yıl önce 120 milyon dolar olan tohum ihraca- tımız bugün için 232 milyon dolara çıktı. Yine 10 yıl önce 67 milyon dolar olan dış ticaret açığımız, 63 milyon dolar daha fazla bir ihracat rakamı ile karşınızdayız.” diyerek sözlerini tamamladı. Toplantıya ev sahipliği yapmaktan dolayı gururlu olduğunu ifade eden İstanbul Ticaret Borsası (İSTİB) Başkanı Ali Kopuz, “Tohum sektörü çok önemli bir sektör, bizlerde bu alanda des- tekler vermeye her zaman hazırız. Bu zaman kadar çok farklı alanlarda projeler gerçekleştirdik. Borsa bünyesinde tohum geliştirme çalışmasında 2012 yılında ‘50 Yıldan Daha Eski Ol- duğu Tahmin Edilen Tohumların Çimlenebilme Kabiliyetlerinin Araştırılması Projesi’ni başlattık. Bu projede 4 yılın sonunda tohumları çimlendirdik. Neticede iyi bir potansiyele sahip ol- duğu görüldü. Tohumların barkodlanması yapıldı. Bunun gibi birçok alanda projeler gerçekleştirdik.” dedi. Sharing current figu- res for the sector, Ak- can said, “At the end of 2022, our certified seed use is 1462 thousand tons. We produced 137 million fruit seedlings, 2 million vine seedlings, 91 million strawberry seed- lings, 6 billion vegetable seedlings, 2 billion or- namental seedlings. Our certified seed production has doubled and sap- ling production has tripled in the last decade. Our or- namental plant production has increased by 75% in the same period. Our foreign trade figures show that our seed exports, which were 120 million dollars 10 years ago, have increased to 232 million dollars today. Moreo- ver, 10 years ago we had a foreign trade deficit of 67 mil- lion dollars, today we have a surplus of 63 million dollars. Stating that he was proud to host the meeting, Ali Kopuz, President of Istanbul Commodity Exchange (ISTIB), said: “The seed sector is a very crucial sector, and we are always ready to provide support in this field. We have carried out projects in many different fields so far. In 2012, we started the ‘Project for Investigating the Germination Capability of Seeds Estimated to be Older than 50 Years’ in seed deve- lopment work at the stock exchange. In this project, we ger- minated the seeds after 4 years. As a result, it was seen that they had a significant potential. The seeds have been bar- coded. We have realized projects in many areas like this.”
