20 November-December • Kasım-Aralık 2017 NEWS • HABER FEED PLANET MAGAZINE The joint venture of Bunge, which is doing business in more than 40 countries, with Corbion, Dutch-based lactic acid producer, was granted the 2017 Global Aquaculture Innovation Award for their new product, AlgaPrimeDHA. The award was given by the Global Aquaculture Partner- ship (GAA) which was established in 2012 and aims to draw attention to the solutions to the problems faced in aquaculture. The product originating from the aquafeed ingredient sector is used for enhancing the nutritional value of seafood with long-chain Omega-3 content. Miguel Oliveira, Bunge's Vice President of Global In- novation stated, "Aquaculture is one of the fastest grow- ing food production systems in the world - a market es- timated to reach $200 billion annually by 2020. We're producing AlgaPrime DHA at an unprecedented scale to address this growing need, offering supply chain resil- ience and on demand production without the constraints of geography, seasonality and changing climate condi- tions." Walt Rakitsky, Emerging Business & Corporate Account Leaders for Corbion, added, "We are extremely honored to receive this award. The Global Aquaculture Innovation Award represents the future of aquaculture, and we believe that AlgaPrime DHA is a key feed ingredi- ent for the industry's continued growth." AlgaPrimeDHA is currently produced at Corbion's and Bunge's SB Renewable Oils joint venture facility in Brazil. The facility embodies the principles of sustainable produc- tion to produce algae-based products with low carbon, water and land use impacts. Based on sugarcane feed- stock, AlgaPrime DHA has a lower carbon and water foot- print and higher yield per hectare than DHA (Docosahexae- noic acid) produced from most other non-marine sources. 40’tan fazla ülkede ticaret yapan tarım ve gıda fir- ması Bunge’nin Hollanda merkezli laktik asit üreticisi Corbion’la girdiği ortak teşebbüs, geliştirdikleri AlgaPri- meDHA adlı ürünle 2017 Küresel Su Ürünleri İnovasyon Ödülü’ne layık görüldü. Ödül, 2012 yılında kurulan ve su ürünleri yetiştiriciliğinde karşılaşılan sorunlara getirilen çözümlere dikkat çekmek isteyen Küresel Su Ürünleri Ortaklığı (GAA) tarafından verildi. Su yosunu içerikli su ürünleri yemi, uzun zincirli Omega-3 içeriğiyle besleyici bir madde olarak öne çıkıyor. 200. kuruluş yılını kutlamaya hazırlanan Bunge’nin küresel inovasyondan sorumlu Genel Müdür Yardımcısı Miguel Oliveira, “2020 yılında yıllık 200 milyar dolarlık bir büyüklüğe erişmesi beklenen su ürünleri pazarı, dünyada gıda üretim sistemleri içinde en hızlı büyüyen sektörlerden biri. AlgaPrimeDHA’yı bu büyüyen gereksinimi karşılamak için emsalsiz bir ölçekte üretiyoruz.” dedi. Oliveira, bunu yaparken coğrafya, mevsimsellik ve iklim değişikliği şart- larından etkilenmediklerini kaydetti.
