The conference ‘Shaping European Food Systems’ held by IPIFF highlighted the strategic importance of the insect-producing sector to support the realisa- tion of the EU Farm to Fork targets. IPIFF highlights importance of insect production IPIFF’den böcek üretiminin önemine vurgu The conference ‘Shaping European Food Systems: How insect farming is contributing to the ‘Farm to Fork’ strategy targets’ hosted by the International Platform of Insects for Food and Feed (IPIFF), gathered in Brussels more than 150 participants from Europe and beyond. This conference featured several high-level speakers who are experts in the fields of insect production and other agri-food sectors, including delegates from the European Commission such as the Directorate- General for Health and Food Safety (DG SAN- TE), Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI), from the Eu- ropean Parliament, the United Nation Orga- nisation for Food and Agriculture (FAO) and representatives of the EU agri-food sectors. Delineated two years and a half ago, the EU Farm to Fork strategy aims to make Eu- rope the global pioneer of a fair, healthy and environmentally friendly food system. ‘The role of alternative proteins such as insects can help to reduce our dependence on critical feed materials and mineral fertilisers and support the transition to sustainable food systems, while contributing to addressing increasing food security challen- ges, in wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine’, highlighted the IPIFF President Adriana Casillas in her opening speech. Uluslararası Gıda ve Yem Böcekleri Platformu’nun (IPIFF) ev sahipliğinde düzenlenen “Avrupa Gıda Sistemlerini Şekillen- dirmek: Böcek üretimi ‘Tarladan Çatala’ strateji hedeflerine nasıl katkıda bulunuyor” başlıklı konferans, Avrupa’dan ve kıta dışından 150’den fazla katılımcıyı Brüksel’de bir araya getirdi. Konferansta, Sağlık ve Gıda Güvenliği Genel Müdürlüğü (DG SANTE), Tarımsal ve Kırsal Kalkınma Genel Müdür- lüğü (DG AGRI) gibi Avrupa Komisyonu, Avrupa Parlamentosu, Birleşmiş Milletler Gıda ve Ta- rım Örgütü (FAO) delegeleri ve AB tarım-gı- da sektörlerinin temsilcileri de dahil olmak üzere, böcek üretimi ve diğer tarımsal gıda sektörlerinde uzman olan üst düzey konuşmacılar yer aldı. Çerçevesi iki buçuk yıl önce çizilen AB Tarladan Sofraya stratejisi, Avrupa›yı adil, sağlıklı ve çevre dostu bir gıda sisteminin kü- resel öncüsü yapmayı hedefliyor. IPIFF Başkanı Adriana Casillas açılış konuşmasında böceklerin yem ve gıda konusundaki önemi konusunda şunları söyledi: «Bö- cekler gibi alternatif proteinlerin rolü, Rusya›nın Ukrayna›yı işgalinin ardından artan gıda güvenliği sorunlarının ele alın- masına katkıda bulunurken, kritik yem malzemelerine ve mi- neral gübrelere olan bağımlılığımızı azaltmaya ve sürdürüle- bilir gıda sistemlerine geçişi desteklemeye yardımcı olabilir.”
