Mykola Solskyi, Minister of Ag- rarian Policy and Maria Didukh, Director of the Ukrainian National Agrarian Forum gave a strong testimony on the in- tensification of the conflict and the concern found in the Uk- rainian agricultural community, where it’s already expected that there will be a decrease of their production by 40% for the 2023 harvest. On the Eu- ropean side, the question of energy and fertilizer prices and availa- bilities were highlighted with a video conference inter- vention by the Commis- sioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechows- ki (who was held up in Brussels) with an update on the awaited communi- cation on fertilizers. On her side, Marija Vučković, hosting Croatian agricultural minister, highlighted the importance of ha- ving a coordinated Eu- ropean actions to support European farmers making the best use of tools available in the new CAP. For Mr. Armengol, President of Cogeca, “With the weaponising of food and energy supplies by Russia, we need a common and united European respon- se. Agri-cooperatives are even more important than ever as they help farmers to face the current challenges, redu- cing production costs and creating more added value in their products.” More than ever agriculture is essential for food security, eco- logical transition, the fight against climate change and energy dependency. Agriculture needs more support and considerati- on to be more attractive, competitive, resilient and sustainable. It will be the only way to reach generational renewal. Kongreye video konferansla Brüksel’den katılan Tarımdan Sorumlu Komiser Ja- nusz Wojciechowski Avrupa yakasında, enerji ve gübre fiyatları ve mevcudiyet- leri sorununu gübreler hakkında beklenen bildirimle ilgili bir güncellemeye dik- kat çekerek vurgu- ladı. Kendi tarafın- da, Hırvatistan tarım bakanını ağırlayan Marija Vučković, Av- rupalı çiftçilerin yeni OTP’de mevcut olan araçlardan en iyi şekil- de yararlanmalarını des- teklemek için koordineli bir Avrupa eylemlerine sa- hip olmanın önemine değindi. Cogeca Başkanı Bay Armengol için, “Rusya gıda ve enerji kaynaklarını silah ha- line getirirken, ortak ve birleşik bir Avrupa tepkisine ihtiyacımız var. Tarım kooperatifleri, çiftçilerin mevcut zor- luklarla yüzleşmelerine, üretim maliyetlerini düşürmeleri- ne ve ürünlerinde daha fazla katma değer yaratmalarına yardımcı oldukları için her zamankinden daha önemli.” Tarım, gıda güvenliği, ekolojik geçiş, iklim değişikliği ile mücadele ve enerji bağımlılığı için her zamankinden daha fazla gerekli. Tarımın daha çekici, rekabetçi, esnek ve sürdürülebilir olması için daha fazla desteğe ve dikka- te ihtiyacı var. Nesil yenilenmesine ulaşmanın tek yolu bu olacak.
