However, critics have raised concerns about potential unintended consequences of the bill. Some industry gro- ups worry about the lack of consultation with organizati- ons like the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) and the potential impact on existing regulations. Additionally, the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) has stated it is considering the bill’s implications and has not yet taken a position. In contrast, the Pet Food Institute (PFI), representing a significant portion of pet food producers in the United Sta- tes, has voiced its support for the new federal legislation, emphasizing the need to modernize and streamline pet food regulation.
