Lee aims to enhance production condi- tions and sustainability in the sector. EFFPA elects Richard Lee as new vice-president EFFPA, Richard Lee’yi yeni başkan yardımcısı olarak seçti The European Former Foodstuff Processors Association (EFFPA) has appointed Richard Lee as its new Vice-Presi- dent during the General Assembly on 22 October 2024. Lee, who also serves as Chair of the UK Former Foodstuff Processors Association (UKFFPA) and Technical Manager at SugaRich, takes on this leadership role amid ongoing ef- forts to strengthen the sector’s sustainability and efficiency. “I am honored by the trust and appreciation from the EFFPA members to support the association in the promo- tion of the interests of the European former foodstuff pro- cessing sector,” Lee stated. “Though we represent a well- established sector in numerous countries, there is still work to do to optimize production conditions and further explore the opportunities for increased sustainable production of food and feed production.” EFFPA represents companies that transform former fo- odstuffs into sustainable feed ingredients, playing a vital role in reducing food waste and advancing the circular economy. By bridging the food and feed sectors, the as- sociation advocates for a robust regulatory framework that recognizes former foodstuff processing as a key compo- nent of sustainability, ensuring feed safety and resource efficiency across Europe. Birleşik Krallık Eski Gıda Ürünleri İşleyicileri Derneği (UKFFPA) Başkanı ve SugaRich Teknik Müdürü olan Lee, sektörde sürdürülebilirliği ve verimliliği artırmaya yönelik devam eden çabalar doğrultusunda bu liderlik görevini üstlendi. Lee, yeni görevi hakkındaki konuşmasında şunları söyle- di: “EFFPA üyelerinin güveni ve takdiri beni onurlandırıyor. Avrupa eski gıda ürünleri işleme sektörünün çıkarlarını ta- nıtmak adına derneğe destek olmaktan mutluluk duyuyo- rum. Birçok ülkede köklü bir sektör olarak temsil ediliyoruz, ancak üretim şartlarını optimize etmek ve gıda ile yem üre- timinin daha sürdürülebilir üretimi için fırsatları daha da keş- fetmek adına hala yapılması gereken çok iş var.” EFFPA, eski gıda ürünlerini sürdürülebilir yem içeriklerine dönüştüren şirketleri temsil etmekte olup, gıda israfını azalt- ma ve döngüsel ekonomi geliştirme konularında önemli bir rol oynuyor. Gıda ve yem sektörlerini birleştirerek, birlik, eski gıda ürünleri işlemenin sürdürülebilirliğin temel bir bi- leşeni olarak tanınması için güçlü bir düzenleyici çerçeve savunmanın yanında, Avrupa genelinde yem güvenliği ve kaynak verimliliği konularında faaliyet gösteriyor.
