The round is co-led by Swen Capital’s Blue Ocean Fund and British International Investment, to- gether with existing investors Mirova and RAISE Impact. The company also secured €4 million in senior debt from Société Générale, CIC Paris Innovation and Banque des Start-up by LCL. The new funding will enable the opening of nextProtein’s second production site in Tunisia, expected to deliver 12,000 tons of insect-based ingredients per year, including 2,500 tonnes of protein powder. Founded to address the growing demand for sustainable protein alternatives, the company produces insect-derived protein powder (next- Meal), oil (nextOil) and fertiliser (nextGrow) for feed and ag- riculture markets. “With this funding, we are taking a decisive step toward producing insect protein at true industrial scale,” said Mo- hamed Gastli, co-founder and CEO. The facility will focus on developing innovative ingredients and solutions for the pet food and rendering in- dustries across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Nicola Abrate, General Manager of Kemin Nutrisurance – Europe, highlighted the company’s commitment to the regi- on: “This territory has given us the strength to grow. Today, we are committed to giving back by fostering innovation and attracting talent from around the world.” The new site spans 3,400 square meters, including 1,000 square meters dedicated to research, and involved over 30 local companies, supporting the local economy. Since establishing a European presence in 2011, Kemin Nutrisu- rance has grown from 20 to 125 employees, with the EMEA region now contributing around 30% of the unit’s global revenue and averaging 11% annual growth over five years. Kemin Industries, founded in 1961, is a family-owned glo- bal ingredient manufacturer supplying over 500 specialty ingredients to feed, pet food, aquaculture, and other sec- tors in more than 120 countries.
