This marks the highest level since 2022. Production increased by 15.1% year-on-year and by 2.2% compared to the previous month. İbrahim Afyon, Chairman of the Central Union of Egg Pro- ducers in Türkiye (YUM-BİR), stated that the increase de- monstrates the sector’s sustained production capacity and supports supply security. “Exceeding 1.9 billion units in Ja- nuary shows that supply security in eggs is being maintai- ned thanks to our strong production infrastructure,” he said. Afyon noted that Türkiye has a high self-sufficiency ra- tio in egg production, adding that the level, which stood at 133% in 2024 and 115% in 2025, is expected to reach around 130% again in 2026. He emphasized that this outlo- ok indicates exports can regain momentum once domestic demand is met. Pointing out that many countries are imposing export restrictions on agricultural and food products, Afyon un- derlined that Türkiye is able to generate a supply surplus thanks to its production strength. “Exports are one of the most important safeguards for food supply security and production growth,” he said, adding that utilizing the surp- lus through exports and the food industry is critical for sustainability. Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu’nun (TÜİK) açıkladığı verilere göre, Ocak ayında tavuk yumurtası üretimi 1 milyar 902 milyon 299 bin adet olarak gerçekleşti. Böylece üretim, 2022’den bu yana en yüksek seviyesine ulaştı. Üretim, ge- çen yılın aynı ayına göre yüzde 15,1, bir önceki aya göre ise yüzde 2,2 arttı. Türkiye Yumurta Üreticileri Merkez Birliği (YUM-BİR) Baş- kanı İbrahim Afyon, söz konusu artışın sektörün üretim ka- pasitesini koruduğunu ve arz güvenliğini desteklediğini be- lirtti. Afyon, “Ocak ayında üretimin 1,9 milyar adedi aşması, güçlü üretim altyapımız sayesinde yumurtada arz güvenliği- nin sürdüğünü gösteriyor.” dedi. YUM-BİR Başkanı Afyon, Türkiye’nin yumurtada yüksek yeterlilik oranına sahip olduğunu belirterek, 2024’te yüz- de 133, 2025’te yüzde 115 olarak gerçekleşen seviyenin 2026’da yeniden yüzde 130’a ulaşmasının beklendiğini ifa- de etti. Bu tablonun, iç tüketim karşılandıktan sonra ihracatın yeniden güç kazanabileceğine işaret ettiğini vurguladı. Birçok ülkenin tarım ve gıda ürünlerinde ihracat kısıtlama- larına yöneldiği bir dönemde Türkiye’nin üretim gücü saye- sinde arz fazlası oluşturabildiğine dikkat çeken İbrahim Af- yon, “İhracat, gıda arz güvenliği ve üretim artışının en önemli sigortalarından biridir.” diye konuştu.
